Easy does it

Chiaro di Luna has had a vaginal discharge of thickish pink (as in bloody) mucous for the past three days and her breasts are swollen and hot, plus the nesting behavior. According to the net, among other things like pyometra,
"Neoplasia (cancer) of the urogenital tract may cause bloody, mucousy or purulent vaginal discharge."
I'm thinking this is more what it's about, after seeing the vet's face last week, but we're not really fussing, she eats fine and goes walkies as long as it's not early in the morning and I make sure it's not too far. Wipe down her vulva from time to time, make sure the dried blood on her tail feathers and leg hairs is combed and brushed out clean so it doesn't irritate, and generally let her nest and rest with occasional motherhood moments like this. Morning and evening I have my magic essential oils which I rub on generously, belly round the dugs and vulva, plus lower back around the spine. Down to 15.5kg, so if she collapses I can easily carry her, so far lately no need. Not ready for the grim reaper yet, methinks. Gently now, gently...
Nobu and Claire indulging in a morning nap as I work...
Being an experienced setter mum now I know to take the three to the park for an afternoon walk in the car...that way if Luna gets tired I can easily get her home, and right now she doesn't have the stamina to walk all the way there. For the first time half way round the park she was behind Nobu and Claire as we all ran up the hill...Claire and Luna were on double point simultaneously in different directions:
Luna then very slowly begins to sidle round to Claire's pigeon, first her head, then with ever so minute adjustments she aligns, unwilling to admit she didn't get the pigeon right the first time...

there must have been something in the brush in her first choice though, because Nobu took over once the girls were on pigeon duty...he only has eyes and nose for cats...
